Our Nurturing Curriculum
Big Dreams Start With Small Steps — Encouraging Your Toddler’s Growth Through Play, Learning, and Exploration
Our Louisville Preschool Curriculum
At Small Steps Preschool, we believe that a child’s early years are a time of wonder, discovery, and immense growth. Our carefully designed Louisville preschool curriculum is built on the principle that children learn best through joyful, hands-on experiences. We are committed to providing a nurturing environment where every child can build a strong academic and social-emotional foundation, preparing them for a smooth transition to kindergarten and beyond.
We honor the unique learning style of each child, fostering confidence, curiosity, and a genuine love for learning.
The Fireflies® Curriculum by FunShine Express
We are proud to implement the FunShine Express curriculum, specifically the Fireflies® program, a nationally recognized, theme-driven approach that puts play at the heart of learning. This dynamic play-based preschool program is built around monthly themes that captivate young minds, from “Community Helpers” to “Amazing Animals.”
Each day is filled with engaging, hands-on activities that feel like play, but are thoughtfully designed to teach critical skills. Through storytelling, music, art projects, and sensory bins, our Fireflies curriculum ensures that learning is an adventure, making every day at Small Steps Preschool exciting and meaningful.
Meeting Kentucky Early Learning Standards
Our commitment to excellence means that every activity and lesson plan is intentionally aligned with the Kentucky early learning standards. This ensures your child is meeting and exceeding age-appropriate developmental goals across all key domains:
- Language and literacy
- Math and science
- Social-emotional development
- Fine and gross motor skills
- Creative arts and sensory play
Building Confident Learners
Our ultimate goal is to prepare well-rounded, confident learners. Our comprehensive focus on kindergarten readiness means your child will develop not just academic skills, but also the independence, problem-solving abilities, and social confidence needed to thrive in a classroom setting.
Furthermore, we are delighted to incorporate bilingual early childhood education elements into our daily routine. Through songs, simple vocabulary, and playful interactions, we introduce children to a second language, fostering cognitive flexibility and cultural awareness from an early age.
We also believe that learning extends beyond our classroom walls. Our curriculum includes regular family engagement activities, creating a strong home-school connection and empowering you to be an active partner in your child’s educational journey.
